Grand Ave. Memorial

A committee of concerned neighbors from the area headed by Othniel Clarke met with a goal of replacing the plaque which was stolen years ago. While unable to find any information as to the original inscription the committee presented  Auburn Post with an idea of honoring Cranston residents killed during World War I that were not otherwise named on any other memorial in the city. This made the most sense and the committee got busy raising the needed funds and conducting the research into the names need for the plaque.

On Saturday May 18th a re-dedication of the Grand Ave. Memorial was held  to show the newly installed plaque.

This group did an outstanding job in getting a memorial which had sat for years without a named purpose and their actions I'm sure will be appreciated by the families of the fallen heroes, Veterans and all of the residents of the City of Cranston.

The Original Bronze plaque was stolen from this memorial.

If anyone has a photo or knows what the inscription was please email auburn post with this information.

We need information to replace the plaque to once again Honor the Veteran for which it was named.
